MorphGear is a program for Windows and Windows Mobile that serves as a shell or frontend for MorphModules. The source code is open and developers are encouraged to contribute to the project.
MorphModules are plugins that run inside of the MorphGear shell. MorphModules can perform frame by frame drawing and are therefore well suited for emulators or games. Both open source and commercial modules are available for download and purchase from independent vendors.
Emulators simulate a hardware system through software. This can be any kind of hardware or circuit, such as video game system hardware. The inner workings of the original system are mimicked as closely as possible so that the original software can be executed by the emulator to allow it to run on a broader range of devices. In many ways, an emulation system is much like an operating system in that it allows you to run software for a specific platform on your device.
